Was honored to meet Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, and John Glenn. Once had the experience of the First Lady, in a yellow suit, drive her black heel into my foot. (We were the only two on the train. No words exchanged). Had Ice cream with Strom Thurmond. Met many luminaries and anti-luminaries of the most powerful District on earth. Wrote my name on the rotunda of the United States Capitol. Developed a love for Washington D. C. and a wariness about politics.
