Josefine was a delight to work with. She ramped up quickly on her intern project, rapidly implementing additions to her conversational tracking algorithm. She was crucial in scoping and obtaining the required hardware and infrastructure for what turned out to be a very complex project. This included unblocking a number of snags along the way, and throughout all of it she proved herself very capable of getting and using the resources she needs. She worked well with other members of the team and was good marshaling their effort so that as a group we were able to quickly assemble a highly complex system that did what we needed it to do - all in less than 6 months. At the completion of her time here, we'd built an amazing setup, learned a great deal, and our team was better prepared to deliver a rich dataset and analysis tools that have been crucial for us going forward with our projects. Her intuition, perseverance, and flexibility were instrumental in that success.

My project titled "The effects of hearing loss and noise on conversational dynamics" aims at investigating temporal dynamics in conversations between two or more people to advance our fundamental understanding of how hearing loss influences communication. The PhD is funded by The William Demant Foundation. I did a half-year research internship with Meta Reality Labs (former Facebook Reality Labs) in their audio research team, supervised by Owen Brimijoin. I built a high-precision multimodal behavioral capture system for recording voice, pupil dilations, gaze, and head and torso motion from several people simultaneously. I completed my Bachelor of Engineering thesis with the title "Perception of Gaps and Overlaps in Conversational Turn-Taking" in collaboration with GN ReSound. Overall the project involved: - Designing a psychoacoustic experiment for evaluating the perception of gaps and overlaps at the point of conversational turn-taking. - Creating a turn-taking corpus consisting of 85 conversational turn-takings between a man and a woman - Creating a babble for a noise masker - Creating a GUI in MATLAB. - Compensating for hearing loss in headphones (+ calibration of system). - Statistical analysis of the results. At Student Media I was among other things responsible for: - writing guides for highschool students on how to analyze texts and write good reports in Danish and English - evaluating assignments and reports - developing online tests for exam preparation in Math, Chemistry, Social Science among others. Furthermore, I was co-writer and reviewer on two books: AT-bogen and SRP-bogen - two books on how to make good projects within the mandatory framed-based projects: Studieretningsprojekt (SRP) and Almen studieforberedelse (AT).
