My internship at Wilshire Park Elementary and St. Charles Borromeo School were immensely valuable to my learning as a future clinician. I administered and analyzed assessments of clients' progress, wrote progress reports on their performance in intervention, and created individualized plans that were catered to the interest of each student. I worked with students on articulation, language, augmentative and alternative communication, and social communication. I presented speech and language findings of patients to the team and worked to create an intervention plan to move forward. Additionally, I provided language and articulation intervention to pediatric clients, and administered assessments to monitor their progress. Show less

Jun 2022 - Aug 2022
While at Fraser, serving as a speech-language pathology student intern, I gained much experience in creating an affirming treatment space for the neurodiverse clients on my case load. Not only did I learn the ins-and-outs of being a clinician in this field—I saw first-hand the difference that a neurodiverse-affirming clinician can make to clients and their families. I was given opportunities to administer assessments, such as the GFTA-3 and the DAYC-2, and gained hands-on experience in writing evaluations and daily progress notes. This experience was so special to me, and I cannot wait to take what I have learned and apply it to my career. Show less

As a graduate student clinician at the JMDSLHC, I learned how to create accurate and functional session plans that both support the client in their achieving their communication goals and offer unique opportunities to engage in session activities. In addition, I created functional goals that were relevant to the client's communication abilities. Lastly, I developed clinical writing skills, including writing SOAP documentations, midterm and final reports, evaluation reports, and recorded data within progress notes. Show less

As a respite care provider, I assisted a child and their family in activities of daily living. I created appropriate games and activities for client and family, and aided the caregivers in whatever needs they requested. I also underwent deescalation training and Blood-borne Pathogen training, to keep myself and the family safe.
