Biological Science Technician

Worked as a field technician for the Dorena Genetic Resource Center, specifically with the 5-needle pine rust resistance program. This position provided first hand experience with biological research, data management, data analysis and report writing. The center’s extraordinary blend of horticulture, pathology, and forest genetics included duties that were performed in a variety of settings: on-site common gardens, field test sites, greenhouses, and labs. Along with extensive experience collecting, coding, transcribing and tabulating disease assessment data, I was able to gain exposure and interest in research surrounding the interactions of fungal endophytes towards white pine blister rust in western white pines.

Aquatic Technician

Successfully completed 640 hours of conservation project work including 120 hours on U.S. Forest Service Lands Corps projects to receive the Public Land Corps awarded by the American Conservation Experience and AmeriCorps. Duties ranged from aquatic invasive species outreach and prevention, collection of water quality data via drift boat for harmful algae blooms, and engaging with the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife on a predator-prey survey.
