I have had the immense pleasure of working closely with Anna during her time as Product Owner with One Planet Group. Anna was brought on board as a project manager for Contractors.com while I was CEO and joined the team at a challenging time when we were in the middle of the development of our MVP. Due to unexpected circumstances, Anna’s role was expanded shortly after her introduction to the product to include product manager tasks and responsibilities. In a situation where many would have been overwhelmed, Anna carried herself with great aplomb and immediately took ownership by 1) transitioning the team from a waterfall development model to an agile development cycle; 2) cleaning up, with the support of UI/UX and design, the product’s master design system; 3) resolving user flow discrepancies in our web-based prototyping tool; and 4) establishing robust documentation processes. Anna was able to do all of this while successfully coordinating with project collaborators to move the project forward despite dealing with unforeseen re-allocation of team resources and unexpected challenges. All of this, however, is a true testament to Anna’s character which was demonstrated in my day to day interactions with her. Anna is an extremely responsible teammate that holds herself accountable to a high standard. She’s a natural self-starter that is able to effectively manage her time to establish goals and accomplish tasks. And, while I would say the best word to describe Anna is strong-willed, that word, unfortunately, carries a negative connotation and does not fully encapsulate Anna’s value. So, instead, I would say that Anna is resolute, or, as that word is defined, admirably purposeful. I have confidence in saying that because Anna has an incredibly high sense of integrity. Yet, it is also clear she is ambitious. Ambitious not in the competitive, succeed at all costs kind of way, but in a way that strives for both self-improvement and collective achievement. I know this because I see in her actions that Anna is a lifelong learner that is curiously seeking out information to better herself, her team, and her product. Combine that with her industriousness and Anna is truly a rare individual that believes in herself and her values and confidently carries that with her everyday. When the time comes, I am going to greatly miss working with her.
