After interning award winning freelance photographer, Kim Nguyen, in Portland over the pandemic, she recruited me as a writer to help start her own editorial website on local change-makers and grassroots organizers. After recruiting subjects for stories, I interview them and write their amazing and inspiring stories. The project aims to celebrate and normalize the BIPOC success around the world and connect us to those around us in our local communities. Working at The Duck Store over the course of two years not only allowed me to first-hand experience true forms of retail experience and serving everyday people, but it also rewarded me the experiences of community and non-profit work that will shape my future professions to come. Helping fans on game days, meeting Duck fans all over the world, serving coffee to daily Eugene customers were all unexpected and grateful experiences I endured.
