  My main task was preparing the basis for the next long-term plan for the Swedish national transport system, spanning from 2022 to 2033. I was also Assistant Project Manager for an assignment on researching future solutions for safe and secure parking on the national road transport network.

  The role mainly addressed the strategic governance of Trafikverket and particularly processes for planning, follow-up and monitoring within the Maintenance business area. I worked as Change Manager for the implementation of the Asset Management Policy and represented Trafikverket in the Asset Management working group within the EIM (European Infrastructure Managers). To succeed in this role, it was essential to understand Trafikverket’s mission and stakeholders as well as to identify and establish connections and collaborations with different strategic initiatives within Trafikverket. Good communication and people skills were also valuable tools for arranging meetings and workshops in order to promote and establish change within the organisation. Other tasks I took on in this role include:- Coordination of R&D and Business Development initiatives- Continuous improvement of governance, planning, and follow-up within the Maintenance business area- Representing Trafikverket in the preparatory work on C-ITS legislation conducted by DG MOVE within the European Commission.   During my time as Graduate Trainee at Trafikverket within the Asset Management department I gained a good overview of Trafikverket and a good understanding of the Swedish transport sector as a whole. The Graduate Trainee Program consists of a series of different placements, both within Trafikverket and at other organisations. Among my placements within other organisations than Trafikverket were 5 weeks at Pro Rail in Utrecht, the Netherlands and 8 weeks at Sweden's innovation agency Vinnova, Stockholm. Show less
