      • Oct 2022 - Present

My main roles as an Outdoor Recreation Specialist within the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Greenways and Trails include administering the Outdoor Florida Webinar Series and coordinating the 20 member Florida Greenways and Trails Council. I recruit speakers on a variety of topics and manage RSVPs for the monthly webinar series, highlighting trends and research in Outdoor Recreation. As staff to the Florida Greenways and Trail Council I secure meeting venues, arrange speakers and presentations, coordinate the agenda, plan outings, and handle communications with members. Outside of these duties I promote Outdoor Recreation in Florida by attending festivals and events on behalf of the Office of Greenways and Trails, seeking out and facilitating new partnerships with the private and nonprofit sector, and creating public-facing promotional materials.

    • Event Coordinator
      • Jan 2021 - Oct 2022

I developed and scheduled 2-5 interpretive programs each month, utilizing existing relationships with community partners and forging new ones to offer engaging and educational programming to the public. I established an efficient process for handling special event/wedding inquiries and composed public-facing documents explaining special event rentals at the park. I revitalized the structure for promoting events at the park both in print and digitally, and create engaging content for social platforms that has increased the park's online presence and following. I was the point of contact and scheduler for all third party events held at the park, including triathlons, fieldtrips, film shoots, fundraiser events, etc. I managed event permits, generated and tracked invoices, obtained required insurance documents for special events, and more. I worked closely with the park's nonprofit citizen support organization (CSO) The Friends of Maclay Gardens to launch annual signature events that generated $40,000+ in revenue.

I started off Green Corps by undergoing a rigorous 3 week digital training on field organizing tactics including petitioning, phonebanking, coalition building, personal effectiveness, grassroots fundraising, volunteer recruitment, visibility in social and print media, the legislative process, and more. Following training I worked for six weeks on an election campaign where I drafted and sent mass email communications to lists of volunteers using mail merge programs, identified 50+ volunteers through phonebanking a list of registered voters, resulting in 15 people completing a volunteer task or attending a volunteer meeting, and kept detailed digital records of volunteer interactions. I also led 3 virtual information sessions and held 10 one-on-one virtual meetings with high-performing volunteers.

    • Friends of Lake Monroe Service Chair
      • Jan 2019 - May 2020

As the service chair for FoLM, I was the main liaison between the nonprofit, the local DNR, and my fraternity. This included setting up times to lead students along the Lake Monroe shoreline to pick up litter and informing chapter of any other upcoming volunteer opportunities. Over the spring of 2019 I helped lead fraternity members to pick up 42 pounds of trash and recycling from the lake! I forged a connection between the two organizations because of my interest in environmental preservation and the previous volunteer work I had done with FoLM. I pressed to make this role a recurring position after the semester so that students could continue to reconnect with their drinking water source.

During my nearly 4 month internship with Big Car Collaborative, I took on a variety of tasks. I primarily worked at the Tube Factory Artspace where I assisted in leading kids' art classes once a week. I also photographed community events including a podcast listening party, a rain garden build at the City Market in the heart of downtown, a gallery show, and two live boxing showcases. I was able to plan and execute a fiber arts day in July where I brought in live sheep and educational materials to show the community how wool goes from the animal to the sweater. In August I spent a few days at the Indiana State Fair interacting with fairgoers at the Wagon of Wonders by explaining the mission of Big Car and the idea of creative placemaking.

At the WWPL, I primarily sorted, organized, and shelved returned materials. I cultivated my organizational and analytical skills through repeatedly reordering and straightening books by author or call number. This required persistence and attention to detail especially in the nonfiction section where there may have been 100 books starting with the same first two numbers.
