Specialist Mental Health Support Worker
-
Aug 2016 - Present
During my time at KEYFORT as a specialist mental health mentor I worked independently across the North-East of England, delivering support to vulnerable individuals and those with an extensive range of needs. I was trusted to independently deliver a service that adhered to our company’s values and objectives. The most common needs that I encountered on a day-to-day basis were those that surrounded mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders. These included conditions such as depression, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia and anxiety as well as autism and ADHD. I also worked closely with young adults who have physical disabilities such as muscular atrophy, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy and individuals who use wheelchairs as a result of trauma or brain injuries.

During my second year of university I volunteered at the Youth Zone and worked with teenagers and young adults with behavioural challenges. This included chaperoning trips, encouraging them to engage in activities offered at the youth zone and challenging difficult behaviour when required.
