Conducted field research on Sarfaanguit Island, Greenland. Our research group was studying a pseudotachylyte-bearing fault zone. We made lithologic logs, collected rock samples, made physical+digital maps (StraboSpot) of the outcrop, collected strike and dip measurements, collected various measurements pertaining to the pseudotachylytes (length, angle, thickness) and performed geochemical analysis (Electron Microprobe and X-Ray diffraction). At the end of the internship, we created a posterboard and submitted an abstract to the Geological Society of America for their yearly conference. We then presented at GSA 2022. Show less

Worked under supervisor/mentor Sarah Kenshalo. My main project was putting together a posterboard for the general public. It was based on a white paper about projected permafrost thaw in the North slope due to permanent roads. I made figures in PowerPoint. The poster itself was also made in PowerPoint. I did other jobs around the office like proofreading and preparing biological reports to be mailed out. I got to sit in on many meetings with other business professionals. At the beginning of my internship I got the chance to fly out to the village of Nuiqsut with the Village Outreach group. We had a big barbeque with the whole village and it was a beautiful day. At the end of the summer, I put together a PowerPoint slideshow to present to my department (Health, Safety, and Environmental). As well as a posterboard for ANSEP's (Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program) "Summer Bridge" program. Show less
