Dr. Yousef Jasemian

Ann is a very ambitious person in her academic as well as her private live. Ann is patient, works with accuracy and precision and review her own and the others' outcome critically. These attributes makes her a wonderful researcher. She is open minded, honest and a caring person. It was a pleasure for me to study and work with her in field of Health Sciences. I recommend her as a qualified scientist conducting research and teaching activities in healthcare field as well as other area she is qualified for. Good luck to Ann Dr. Yousef Jasemian, Ph.D., ND Cand. M.H.Sc., Biomed Sc. & Eng., PT, LMP, L.Ac.

Potentially inappropriate prescribing (PIP) has exclusively been described in elderly population and is associated with an increase in hospitalizations, morbidity and mortality. A few studies do exist on somatic patients suffering from psychiatric comorbidity. Despite the fact nurses have most of the direct patient contact there are very few studies on how nurses may contribute to an improved medication safety. These studies show that nurses are capable of identifying drugrelated problems but this is not implemented and developed as a ressource. I will, in collaboration with clinical pharmaocologists, identify types and characteristics of PIP in psychiatric patients as well as study the effect of training nurses in better observation for effects and sideeffects. Focus will be on improving the nurses knowledge of pharmacology and skills in reflecting on psychiatric patients medication. Show less
