Observed hearings and learnt about the procedure of case hearings in the different sessions court under the umbrella of Howrah District Court. Gained knowledge about litigation and how to practically apply subjects taught in law schools. Analysed case diaries and helped the senior lawyers formulate arguments for case hearings. Researched and learnt about specific sections of the law, such as sections 436 to 439 and 167 (2) under the Cr. P.C., along with legislation on divorce under section 10A of the Indian Divorce Act and sections 18 and 19 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 Researched case laws under the Hindu Marriage Act, 955 and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. I performed administrative tasks such as filling out vakalatnamas and maintaining files, books and case diaries.

IHRC is an independent organisation recognised by the Government that is dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. Attended Level 1, 2 and 3 of the Mediator Training Course and learned about the various skills that a mediator requires to be successful. We were taught the basics of mediation followed by intermediate skills and eventually, we gave a final assessment which will help us become YCM certified mediators. There were many simulation sessions held which helped us practically use the skills we were learning. We were also offered working opportunities with YCM upon completion of the course.
