Secretary
-
Mar 2011 - Mar 2014
My key role in the management committee was to ensure external and internal correspondence was managed professionally and in a timely manner and ensure committee meetings were productive and smoothly conducted. I was also responsible for the management of membership and organisational records, as well as ensuring the band members (and caregivers of young members) were given information for upcoming events and activities. As a committee member I was responsible for ensuring the band met its set objectives. A high level of collaboration and communication was required for planning and coordinating events with other community groups and managing the regular activities of the organisation. I took initiative to introduce new approaches to publicity and community presence, suggested ways in which the band could better meet its organisational objectives, and implemented new strategies as agreed in committee meetings. I coordinated task groups, delegating tasks and overseeing their completion. Furthermore, I helped the band build on its existing network of contacts by exploring funding and performance options, connecting with people at local events and organising joint ventures with compatible groups and soloists. Within a few weeks of joining the band as a musician in 2010 I was nominated as a committee member. The following year I was encouraged to nominate for Secretary and held this role until I moved interstate in 2014.
