As a member of BP Canada’s Executive Team, I was responsible for the direction of all public and government relations for the corporation in Canada. I reported directly to the President and CEO of BP Canada and liaised with the BP global government and public affairs teams. I managed a team and lead public and government affairs, media relations, internal and corporate communications, aboriginal and stakeholder relations and corporate social responsibility/community investment for both the upstream and downstream businesses. In April 2014, I assumed the lead non-technical role for BP for its deepwater project offshore Nova Scotia to lead the Environmental Impact Assessment process. Responsibilities included: • Government Relations and implementation of stakeholder activities • Identification of priority communications • Day-to-day management of the BP office in Halifax • Facilitation of non-technical risk mitigation plans • Interactions with the local regulatory organizations
