Jan 2010 - Dec 2011
High School Engagement Teacher in 2010. Role involved teaching Aboriginal students unable to learn in mainstream classes. Year 5 Classroom Teacher in 2011. While at university I was offered a paid scholarship to finish my studies and then travel to a remote part of Western Australia to work at a hard to staff school. During my time there I took part in many community projects aimed at getting local children excited to come to school. While there, attendance rates rose from 55% to over 80%. I was also in charge of overseeing the installation of the school's first Smartboards, then running Professional Development sessions to train the staff in their use. Show less
