Daily operations include verifying results for both external and internal clients, preparing the analyzers for the oncoming shifts, and any troubleshooting that may need completed throughout specimen processing and testing. Many students from local universities intern within the laboratory, helping those students learn has become an integral part of all processes.Activities outside of the laboratory include organizing group outings to local amusement parks, collecting and distributing gifts for local charities, and representing the organization in fund raising events. Teaching Clinical Laboratory Science seniors Introductory Hematology. Focusing on numerous topics including hematopoiesis, leukopoiesis, thrombopoiesis, and erythropoiesis. Techniques covered also include Coulter principle, automatic differentials, flow cytometry and bone marrow aspiration procedures. Also instructing these students on proper slide preparation, introductory Wright Staining, manual white blood cell counts and manual platelet counts. Performing manual differentials and recognizing a "normal" patient sample were stressed.
