  Angie Halim is an experienced federal criminal defense trial attorney and advocate for the criminally accused. Through extensive experience in a wide variety of federal criminal cases, she has refined and enhanced skillsets that make her a sophisticated and successful courtroom advocate. Angie began her career as an associate in the white collar litigation and corporate investigation departments of premier large law firms in Philadelphia. For five years she learned from some of the most experienced federal practitioners how to protect and advocate for clients in complex federal criminal investigations and prosecutions. After leaving a large, national law firm in 2009, Angie steadily built a boutique federal criminal defense private practice in Philadelphia. Through federal court-appointment work, Angie discovered that her true passion is to provide the highest level of representation and advocacy to indigent defendants in federal criminal cases.In 2018, she became an Assistant Federal Defender for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and aggressively represented indigent individuals in the fast-paced, high-volume practice of public defense. While she holds her public defense experience in the highest regard, Angie saw firsthand how the realities of the federal public defense system in this country has limitations that prohibit the highest quality of representation to the accused individuals that need it the most. With the goal of building a federal criminal defense non-profit practice that provides the highest level of quality representation to indigent individuals, Angie made the decision to leave the federal defenders. She is currently a solo practitioner, accepting only court appointments for federal defendants, while she also identifies potential sources of funding and researches how to build the most effective non-profit practice to serve indigent individuals in the federal criminal system.
