I had the pleasure of working with Angela during her time at the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). At first, I witnessed Angela’s amazing skills as a trainer who could present any topic within a wide range of subject matter areas to her audience in a clear, uncomplicated manner while still managing to make the learning experience for her students positive and enjoyable. With required trainings, there is often reluctance amongst staff to feel invested in a mandatory training, but Angela could make you forget about the mandatory nature of the training and reinforce its fundamental importance. I was so impressed with Angela’s inherent intelligence and communication skills that I recruited her to move from training into the role of the Assistant Director of Quality Control. At DTA, the Quality Control Unit was required to measure key metrics to ensure state and federal compliance such as the SNAP error rate and the TAFDC work participation rate as well as managing numerous ad-hoc requests of DTA’s leadership. At DTA, I can speak for the then incumbent leadership in stating that we viewed the Quality Control Unit as the center of data excellence within our agency. Angela was a prime contributor to that excellence in managing all areas within her control optimally with great results and high quality leadership. Additionally, Angela is a truly great person. She is so smart, sensible, kind, thoughtful, and possesses a wry sense of humor that can disarm any tense situation and turn it into a more positive experience for all involved. For all of the foregoing reasons, I can recommend Angela unconditionally to any prospective employer.
