At OSCIA I oversee facilitation and delivery of on-farm funding and producer education opportunities, including the On-Farm Climate Action Fund (OFCAF), Canadian Agricultural Partnership, Lake Erie Agriculture Demonstrating Sustainability (LEADS), Species at Risk, and the On-Farm Applied Research and Monitoring (ONFARM) Program. As manager of the Program Delivery Team, I direct program development, acquisition, producer outreach, and soil health and best management practice promotion.

As a post-doctoral researcher in the Soil and Ecosystems Ecology Group in the Faculty of Life Sciences, I worked on the BBSRC-funded research "The Root to Stability". Under the supervision of the project's PI, Dr Franciska de Vries, I investigated the influence of grassland species' root-exudate quality in shaping the soil microbial community and changing soil properties under projected conditions of drought and warming. My PhD thesis explored the dynamics of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in agricultural soils and how DOC pools and turnover are related to activity and composition of the soil microbial community. This was researched in the context of pathogenic disease suppression in arable systems. Thesis entitled: Explorations of soil microbial processes drive by dissolved organic Carbon. Defended June 17, 2015. My MSc thesis investigated nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from different soil types and quantified soil microbial communities associated with the production of this greenhouse gas. Fluxes of N2O gas were measured in real-time using a tunable diode laser. Copy numbers of genes which code for nitrification and denitrification were quantified using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.
