I underwent my Neurological and Musculoskeletal placement here for 6 weeks. I was privileged to work with experienced and talented AEPs and Physiotherapist. During the 6 weeks, I developed my patient-clinician communication, time management, clinical justification and communication, exercise prescription and cueing through: • Conducting initial and post exercise intervention assessments • Progressing exercise programs for all patients during the 6 weeks • Supervising patients during one on one exercise sessions • Facilitating conversations with patients regarding exercise options and discussed behavioural management options to assist patients in their adherence to exercise program Show less

I underwent my Cardiopulmonary and Metabolic placement here for 6 weeks. I was privileged to work within a multidisciplinary team that included AEPs, OTs, Psychologists, Nurses and Dietitians. During the 6 weeks, I developed my patient-clinician communication, time management, clinical justification and communication, exercise prescription and cueing through: • Conducting initial and post exercise intervention assessments • Conducted initial and discharge consultations • Directing an education session "Exercise and Lung Health" for pulmonary patients • Developing a new "chair-based" exercise program for pulmonary patients • Conducting multiple initial Six-Minute Walk Tests followed by initial exercise program prescription and post rehabilitation program Six-Minute Walk Tests to monitor the effectiveness of patient programs • Progressing exercise programs on a weekly basis for cardiac and heart failure patients • Progressing exercise programs for pulmonary patients • Supervising cardiac, heart failure, pulmonary and EPIC gym sessions where I assisted in taking pre and post observations (BP, HR, SpO2) and technique correction, exercise modification • Facilitating conversations with patients regarding exercise options and discussed behavioural management options to assist patients in their adherence to exercise post rehabilitation program • Completing referrals, GP letters, clinical notes and clinical handovers Show less
