I oversee an extremely diverse department of anti-poverty programs, from food security and homeless programs, to financial literacy education, free tax preparation services and more. I am responsible for grantwriting and program management, approving expenditures and monitoring an extremely complicated multi-million dollar department budget which consists of more than 15 separate programs and the management of more than 30 individual grants/budgets. As the Director of Education and Outreach for New Horizons, I provided a great deal of community education on a wide variety of topics to various audiences. Topics included: child abuse/mandated reporting, sexual harrassment, sexual assault, healthy relationships, internet safety, child sexual abuse, senior safety, and more. The purpose of these presentations was not only to educate, but also to be a resource for victims of crime seeking support or other assistance. Other duties included: grant managment and reporting, grantwriting, victim court advocacy, assisting with orders for protection and harrassment restraining orders, and providing crisis services to victims of sexual assault.
