My role as intervention specialist at the Lorain County JVS is dynamic. I serve as the academic teacher for the Job Training Program, which is a program with a focus on functional academics following the extended standards during academics. While these students are in lab they are exposed to and practice a variety of job readiness activities both within the school, as well as in the community. At the JVS, I also co-teach in English classes which follow the core standards as well as manage a caseload of students with special needs. This includes communication with families, and other professionals in order to effectively gather data to write and facilitate students Individualized Education Plans. Show less

I have tutored students and children of all grades and subjects. My area of strength and the most training is in reading intervention: increasing fluency and comprehension, language arts, and writing across the curriculum. I worked with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for 4 years. I piloted a program developed by scholastic called read 180. The students saw great successes in reading achievement in areas of fluency and comprehension. I was also responsible for these students individualized education programs.
