  As a Family Preservation worker, I partner with families to identify safety and risk to children and refer to appropriate resources to rectify the situation which lead to abuse or neglect. I make monthly contact with the families and follow up with service providers to ensure compliance. If needed, I file court paperwork and participate in court proceedings. I also am on-call at least monthly in which I accept new reports of abuse or neglect and sometimes have to iniate a report, which may include children coming into foster care, finding placement, and transporting the children. In my role as Senior Child Welfare Specialist, I still carry a caseload but also mentor new workers in identified areas in which they need to improve as well as help in emergency situations.
