In my position as a Family Engagement Representative I have created numerous events and opportunities for students and their families. I am responsible for creating and executing 3 of Emma Donnan's most popular events. One of those events is; the annual Back to School Block Party created in August of 2013. The event was created to bridge the gap between the school, our families and the community. The block party provides immunizations, free book bags and school supplies, community resources for families, food and much more. In October of 2014 I created a Fall Festival another opportunity to bring our families and community together, as well as bring our students opportunities that usually only happen at well funded schools. The event is also used as a fundraiser to aide in the cost of providing students at Emma Donnan and Emmerich Manual with food during winter break. The fall festival is also an opportunity to pass out free coats to all in need. The last detail of the event is the frightful haunted hallway, designed and executed by me as a way to raise funds and entertain our students. The last major event I created is our Breakfast with Santa event sponsored each year by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, which is completely free to our families, they get to enjoy a free breakfast, pictures with Santa, crafts and more! Some other items I have implemented at the school are Hispanic Heritage Night, African-American Cultural Night, Parent Day, Carnival for a Cure, Think Pink Week, and many more.Recently I was able to secure a grant with KaBoom for a playground for our students. Not only did we receive $100,000 worth of playground equipment, we also receive $26,000 worth of gym and sporting equipment. During the 8 week project, I took the lead on putting together build day, making sure I took care of all logistics to oversee over 200 volunteers to build the playground in one day. Show less
