I am a Certified Wound Care Nurse at a long term care and rehabilitation facility. My job consist of reviewing the patients chart then placing consult orders for pain management, Infectious Disease and making sure they have orders in place for follow up appointments per MD orders. I perform full body skin assessments upon admission and take pictures of areas of concern, along with setting up a treatment plan with the physician. I set up appointments with the wound care physician and make rounds with him weekly. I place the orders in the computer per MD request and assist him in performing a debridement if needed. My job also includes changing dressings and wound vacs as ordered along with teaching staff how to perform dressing changes and working our camera system.
