I had the great fortunate of mentoring Dr. Huang during her time as a graduate student at UNC. Angel is a researcher of extraordinary skills and commitment. In our group, she performed several scientific projects on the mechanism of action of brain stimulation that I consider to be seminal studies. Angel is highly trained and expert in complex signal processing, machine learning, and scientific computing. She excelled through her initiative, independence. and intelligence. She is a natural leader as evidenced by her successful mentoring of a number of more junior students and technicians. I cannot imagine a task too challenging for her. Any employer would be lucky to have her on their team. Angel has my highest and most enthusiastic recommendation!

I closely mentored Angel as a senior graduate student when she was a 1st year graduate student. In summary Angel surpassed me in almost every major fashion, which is a delight for a mentor. She was able to quickly ascertain a deep understanding of my analysis code and integrate novel technologies to enhance the code functionalities. She was able to efficiently and concisely explain complex machine learning concepts that she incorporated into her analyses to aid the understanding of the whole research group. Her managerial skills impressed me when she was able to successfully hire and manage multiple undergraduate researchers to enrich her research. And finally, she has a strong ability to see through the completion of multi-scale (long-term and short-term) projects, which is a highly valuable skill for any high-profile company repertoire. For example, Angel consistently delivered on monthly 1-hour presentations detailing her project progress, and she successfully completed and published a 3+ year scientific project. Angel would be an indispensable asset to any fortunate company/group.
