Work in an Agile Scrum environment with two-week sprints, attend Daily Standups, assign User Stories during Sprint Planning, and participate in Sprint Demos and Retrospectives. Project A Problem: Given a Windows Server 2016, our instance of Mosquitto MQTT crashed at ~2,000 concurrent connections. Solution: Switched our MQTT broker to VerneMQ, which contains multithreading and clustering capabilities, bringing us up to ~10,000 concurrent connections. This is paired with HAProxy to perform load-balancing and TLS/SSL termination, thereby offloading decryption onto our proxy and not the broker itself. Currently using Docker containers to run these apps, as both VerneMQ and HAProxy are unavailable on Windows. Conducted stress testing using the Paho MQTT client with Python. Skills: SSL/TLS, Vertical & Horizontal Scaling, Python, MQTT, Docker, AWS’s EC2, Linux, and Windows Project B Problem: Determining the effectiveness of our Transit Signal Priority (TSP) product. Solution: Developed functions using Python’s Pandas library for wrangling and formatting of multi-gigabyte sets of time-series transportation data used in creating machine learning-ready datasets. Created user-friendly reports based on findings, including visualization using Matplotlib and Seaborn. Used resulting analysis and visualization to generate reports for internal use and for our customer, SFMTA, in San Francisco. Skills: Python’s Pandas, Numpy, scikit-learn, Keras, GeoPy, and PySpark libraries, Google Earth, Excel, and GitHub Project C Problem: Ingesting customer data from our client in Indianapolis Solution: Created AWS lambda function that ingests traffic data stored in an AWS S3 bucket, parsed and transformed said data into JSON format, and stored it into an AWS DynamoDB table. Created another lambda function that reads from the DynamoDB table upon request. Skills: AWS (EC2, S3, DynamoDB), Python, JSON Show less
