Fenics is the market data arm of the BGC group, a conglomeration of 20+ Inter-Dealer Brokerages (IDBs). Traditionally IDB data is used by trading functions, valuation and risk functions within the financial community as an independent source of data.My role is a hybrid sales and product specialist, within the product strategy team, with the remit to create, develop and build a Regulatory Solutions business. This entailed transitioning the business to a Data as a Service (DaaS) model. The new customer base focussed on risk, valuation surveillance and compliance departments in both sell-side and buy-side institutions as well as vendors and other financial data companies.I have recently been investigating how an IDB can get involved in broking digital assets and crypto, potentially creating benchmark indices and data products for the industry.
