In 17 years within the Sports Installations and Construction industries, I have excelled in various roles from Installs Engineer to Supervising Engineer and Technical and Quality Manager with companies such as Continental Sports Ltd and Sportsafe UK Ltd.This valuable experience has enabled me to start an exciting new venture of my own with Sports Works UK. At Sports Works UK our installations cover all equipment found in various venues such as School Sports Halls, Gymnastic Centres, Cricket Grounds and Sporting Centres of Excellence. We can install all manner of Sports Equipment, Netting Systems, Scoreboards, Goals and Team Shelters.

In my role as Technical and Quality Manager I managed the ISO 17020 inspection aspects of the business and reported in to the Operations Director. My role was to ensure we achieved the standards set out by ISO 17020 and retained our UKAS accreditation, which we successfully did. I planned out the training plans and examination processes for Health and Safety Inspectors to be authorised to work to this high standard. Whilst maintaining clear records and files it was also my responsibility to deal with any complaints that were escalated up and need attention to restore customer satisfaction. Along with our HR department I carried out the recruitment of new Inspectors and conducted examinations, audits and training with our team which we grew to over 40 field service engineers. I recently completed the ISO17020 Auditors course in order to effectively manage the quality management system for maintaining UKAS accreditation. I have a strong background in Engineering and Construction and I am always on hand to offer technical support and advice to various departments and meet the needs of the Inspectors to ensure all works are completed efficiently at the first visit to site.

      • Jun 2015 - Dec 2016

In my role as a Team Leader to the Midlands office I was the first port of call for the engineers with any problems that they may have, either whilst on site or with reporting issue's. I also took care of any problems involving PPE, tools and equipment needed to carry out their roles as Service Engineers and any extra training that may be required. I worked closely with the Midlands Service Manager to ensure that all jobs are completed on time and hassle free. Another aspect of my job involved visiting sites prior to installation of equipment such as climbing frames, netting, rebound boards and basketball goals. These site visits are to measure up, eliminate any potential problems and ensure that installation runs smoothly. I carried out those tasks whilst also fulfilling the role of a Service Engineer, this kept me busy which is just how I like it!

    • Service Engineeer
      • Sep 2014 - Jun 2015

My role as a service engineer was to provide an excellent maintenance service and carry out repairs to sports, fitness and P.E equipment in schools, colleges, and leisure centres. In order to carry out this role successfully I was required to provide the sales office with clear concise reports in order for accurate quotes to be produced for clients repairs. The role of service engineer requires you to be well skilled in the following areas: communication, time management, problem solving, report writing and team work. All of which I believe myself to excel in.

During my time at Continental Sports I installed a wide range of sports/gymnastics products. This covers everything from fitting out school sports halls with flooring, division netting, cricket netting and basketball goals, to installing items in national centres of excellence such as parallel bars, asymmetric bars trampolines and fast tracks etc. I have experience of installing top of the range Schelde sports equipment and acoustic curtains.I regularly led small teams to complete installations with tight deadlines and work closely with the drawing office, construction management and other trades on site. Whilst working for Continental Sports I worked all over the UK and also in Armenia for a short time.

    • Joiner
      • Jun 2003 - May 2009

In my time here I went from an apprentice joiner to a self employed Joiner, sub-contracting to the company. I quickly picked up many of the skills and attributes to be a highly skilled worker. I worked on many different types of contracts from pub refurbishments, office fit outs, mill to apartment conversions, roofing, shuttering and erecting pre-fabricated timber buildings. This has given me a broad experience of the construction industry. I regularly worked away from home and loved my time here, unfortunately the recession hit and I had to change my career path in order to find work as I was expecting my first son and starting a family.
