I have an extremely varied role at Trafford, which I absolutely love. I am involved with the complex early-years team, which involves assessing preschool children with complex SLCN and managing intervention across setting as well as designing and facilitating training for nurseries, school staff and parents.I run a social communication initial assessment clinic, which is for children aged between 4-18 who have been referred to the service with primary concerns around social communication disorders e.g ASD. The initial assessment runs in clinic and provides a more efficient referral to the diagnostic ASD pathway, which has had a positive effect on the waiting lists and engagement. The initial assessment session consists of formal/informal language assessment, informal conversation with client and family and observation of the client. I am fortunate to be running and coordinating this clinic as social communication/sensory processing/ASD is very much a passion of mine and I hope to continue to develop in this field. I have completed postgraduate training in PECS, SCERTS and ADOS-2.I have experience in working closely with other professionals (Consultant Paediatricians, Educational Psychologists, Teacher, Social Workers, Health Visitors, School Nurses). I have experience of managing a community SLT clinic, which involves being responsible for a large caseload of children with varying SLCN, completing a range of administrative tasks and keeping up to date on evidence-based and efficient intervention and practice.I currently manage the department social media (www.facebook.com/traffordchildrensSLT) and have a developing interest in social media and technology use within Speech and Language Therapy.I am keen to develop innovative and efficient department systems/resources to support clinicians and patients to maximise the quality and efficient of care.
