Andrew Pollard worked with us between June and September 2014 as an intern and proved to be an excellent addition to the team. Andrew mainly worked on our online app builder; zapplab.net and developed his design and app building skills during this time. He also worked on some bespoke products for our clients in Ireland and Australia including two websites. During his time he developed his knowledge in HTML, PHP and SQL and also had some experience with CSS and MongoDB within our zapplab framework. He also showed he could deliver products to the client’s requirements and often surpassed our expectations. Andrew is a very diligent, hard-working man who can work fast and is very easy to get on with. He always worked to deadline and was a pleasure to work with.

During my final year at ITTD I had been selected by IBM to work with the company on my final year project. The task I had been assigned at IBM required me to design & develop a test automation system for running test cases on native mobile applications. The goal was to build a framework with Jenkins & Appium that allows for test runs to be scheduled that can retrieve test classes from a repository and execute those classes on target mobile devices & emulators, storing test results in a database. For the duration of the project a mentor was assigned to help keep the project on schedule and to engage with regularly with updates on development of the project. Every fortnight, progress of the project was presented to a panel of senior developers in IBM over a series of eight iterations. The project was a success and even exceeded initial expectations with the successful implementation of a device farm that allows tests to be executed on multiple targets in parallel. Completed a summer internship and gained valuable experience working as part of a team of developers. Tasks involved full product development from sketching ideas and designs to logo and graphic design in Photoshop and web development using HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript and JQuery. This internship gave me the opportunity to develop my teamwork and communication skills and to enhance my web design skills by developing web sites and apps using some of the latest mobile frameworks such as Bootstrap and Sencha.
