Bio
Charlie Marr
I have been lucky enough to work with Andrew for over 10 years. I first met Andrew when I was at university and his passion for the business he was running at the time resulted in me turning down a job at an investment back to join Pulsar where Andrew was CEO and founder and begin my career in sales. After a successful 4 years at Pulsar, I later joined Andrew on his founding team at HeadBox where, under his leadership and tutelage, I learned a huge amount as both a sales and people leader. Andrew's super strength is the empathy with which he approaches all interactions with his team, his customers, and his family. Andrew leads with Integrity - always doing what he says he's going to do - something I now seek to replicate in my own management style. This empathy and integrity has created a safe, fulfilling, fun and highly productive culture at HeadBox that helped the business thrive while I was there and continues to do so.

Andrew is a force of nature. He built Face into a mature and respected research operation and from it seized the opportunity to create and launch Pulsar. At the same time recruiting and shaping a high quality management team to ensure succession and legacy - an unusual but very positive trait in the world of M&A. He was a very positive and inspiring personality in the development of Cello Group and the Signal network.

I set up Student Pages, a telephone directory very like Yellow Pages but for students while studying at Edinburgh University. I then grew the 200 plus page publication so that every major university town in the country had it's own version. With a print run of over 300,000 copies and a readership of 1M it became a well established part of student life in the 90's. With revenue of £2.5M I sold Student Pages together with Student Marketing to Hobsons who were part of the Daily Mail Group.
