James Morden
Andrew has always delivered, whether the job is to program an exhibition stand, a music tour, product launch, or museum installation, the attention to detail is flawless, the end product is simple to use and interact with and on the few occasions that updates have been required, Andrew has been able to implement these quickly and sometimes over the phone. I cannot recommend Andrew highly enough.
Jason Barnes
Andrew Martyn showed great promise for a future in the creative industries, and has subsequently remained a sensitive and loyal colleague, both reliable and instinctive, with a healthy sense of humour and I would thoroughly recommend him for any engagement to which he may aspire. Jason Barnes

my work bings and bongs around ideas and concepts, very much as i do in my dyslexic life. i prefer not to discuss what is behind the work to ensure the viewer has space for themselves to explore and discover the work. this is born out of my own need to feel that i have the space to be myself. my work bings and bongs around ideas and concepts, very much as i do in my dyslexic life. i prefer not to discuss what is behind the work to ensure the viewer has space for themselves to explore and discover the work. this is born out of my own need to feel that i have the space to be myself.

the mill trust commissioned me to make them a donations box for the reception area of the mill's museum. the brief was to spend as little as possible on materials and ensure that the donations box was suitably eye catching to attract as many pennies as possible, as it was decided that every penny counts. i spent time in the mill sourcing materials from what was laying around the museum store and basement. i wanted to feature bobbins in the final object as they played such an important role in the mill's operation. i also wanted to include a sonic component to the overall donations box as now the museum is very quiet, compared to when the mill was in fully operational mode.

the show title was "i've been elvita adams". it was based on a true storey. my involvement with this production was to refine the script, devise the lighting and design the playback method for video/powerpoint and audio. it played at the fringe in new york and the derby theatre. as a result of this production i began a collaborative process to devise a show based on the therory of a database narrative film. the show title was "i've been elvita adams". it was based on a true storey. my involvement with this production was to refine the script, devise the lighting and design the playback method for video/powerpoint and audio. it played at the fringe in new york and the derby theatre. as a result of this production i began a collaborative process to devise a show based on the therory of a database narrative film.

i was awarded a future focus bursary and an exhibition opportunity in the main gallery for the future focus exhibition. the piece i made and exhibited was entitled interstice. the quad website states: Exhibition of emergent and established talents from the East Midlands. Spotting and supporting new talent from the East Midlands Region through new commissions by recent graduates. Professional practice for artists and events. Curated by all staff at QUAD and special guests. In the Gallery were new commissions by Future Focus Bursary Scheme winners Rebekka Bojanowski, Nick Buxton, Neil Dixon, Kirsty Michelle Hayes and Andrew Martyn Sugars. Future Focus addresses and builds upon the fascinating territory of utopia and possible futures. The works investigate ideas of space and time through non-narrative, narrative and physical constructions.

my degree show work monument(2009) was chosen by the surface gallery to be shown in their east midlands finest exhibition. the surface gallery states: The exhibition offers the chance to explore and observe the array of talent produced by new and upcoming artists of today. Some artists have had the chance to create and install an individual piece for the show, allowing the opportunity for the artist to stretch their creativity and offer something unique to the gallery and it’s visitors. The broad and dynamic range of art that has been produced within the East Midlands addresses the fundamental processes of contemporary expression.

R / Evolution films by artists and filmmakers were shown on the digital screens around QUAD to mark the 150th anniversary of the R/evolutionary concepts from the 'Origin of the Species' by Charles Darwin. This inspirational work continues to provoke dialogue and to rouse debate about humankind, science, religion, nature and society. i was part of a production team producing events and videos for corporate clients that included ciba geigy, robinsons, beda, knoll, newmarket race course, marley, colemans of norwich and barclays merchant services. this position was really good for me as i had the space in which to bring my theatre experiences and background into events for corporate clients. i lot a lot of fun here and worked on some really good looking and sounding productions. i was part of a production team producing events and videos for corporate clients that included ciba geigy, robinsons, beda, knoll, newmarket race course, marley, colemans of norwich and barclays merchant services. this position was really good for me as i had the space in which to bring my theatre experiences and background into events for corporate clients. i lot a lot of fun here and worked on some really good looking and sounding productions.
