At Creative Plan Designs, Ltd, I am in charge of the actuarial, administration and technical compliance issues that affect our clients' Defined Benefit Plans and Cash Balance Plans. This includes the preparation of actuarial reports including determination of minimum required contributions under IRC 430, maximum deductible contributions under IRC 404, and recommended contribution levels to ensure adequate funding and meet the client's financial objectives. As part of our annual and periodic reports, we calculate the projected and accrued benefit levels for plan participants and prepare benefit distribution forms for former plan participants. My responsibilities also include the preparation of Actuarial Certifications for these plans as well as the preparation of Form 5500 Schedule SB, AFTAP Certifications and related forms and certifications as might be required under the Pension Protection Act. I also prepare and review plan terminations including compliance with the PBGC Termination Rules when required and the annual PBGC-1 Premium Calculation Forms. For those clients whose outside Auditors may require it, we prepare the calculations and reports under ASC Sections 715 and 960 (formerly FASB 35, 87, 88, 132, and 158). The preparation of the actuarial valuations include non discrimination and coverage testing under 401(a)(4) and 410(b) with special emphasis on combined DB/DC Plan testing. I also am involved in plan design issues for both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans and assist in the review of Plan Document restatements and amendments for Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution Plans. My duties also include representing clients in connection with submissions to and audits by Government Agencies such as the IRS, PBGC, or DOL. Finally, I and my staff are available to consult with our clients and their professional advisors on all technical and actuarial matters to ensure that their qualified plans comply with ERISA.
