EMR is a global leader in metal recycling. As Operations Manager, I report to the General Manager and am responsible for ensuring the complete safe, compliant and efficient running of Edmonton’s ferrous recycling yard. In my role, I ensure we exceed our customer’s expectations when they arrive/leave our depot. I ensure that the site is always adhering to EMR’s strict standard operating procedures whilst making sure we are maximising our profitability through smart storage, segregation and efficient preventative maintenance. Responsibilities: • Responsible for direct and indirect reports. • Ensuring all members of the team are adhering to EMR’s strict SHEQ standard operating procedures. • Financially responsible for our ferrous departmental budgets. • Responsible for maintaining all required training (plant, first aid etc.). • Responding to all customer complaints or queries in a timely fashion. • Liaising between our accounts team and clients to resolve any invoices queries. • Liaising with various departments (SHEQ, maintenance, telematics etc.) to achieve EMR’s collective objectives. • Ensuring the efficient running of administration and office procedures. • Constructing daily and monthly reports for senior management on departmental KPI’s including monitoring stock levels/value to ensure maximum margin is met. • Conducting staff performance reviews, setting objectives, identifying employee training requirements and/or staff recruitment where necessary. • Managing staffing levels through overtime and external contractors based upon fluctuating inbound tonnage/ breakdowns/ planned maintenance. • Liaising with the engineering team to ensure preventative maintenance is carried out to ensure the least downtime is achieved versus cost/loss of production. • Actively managing subcontractors to ensure that they perform in line with their contractual agreements.
