At SomnoMed, I lead the execution of cross-functional R&D projects in data and machine learning. These projects require the effective coordination of R&D, IT, manufacturing, operations, and product development teams. Primary responsibilities currently include: - Programming and testing of robotic systems (ABB and Universal Robot) - Design, testing, installation and commissioning of 2D and 3D machine vision systems including camera, lens, lighting and laser selection - Development of digital image processing algorithms for numerous applications and industries - Interfacing machine vision systems with PLC and Industrial Robot systems - Development of PC-based user interfaces / HMI for machine vision systems in .Net C#/VB Project Highlights - Timber grade-reading and sorting for robotic pick-and-place: a high-speed vision system utilising multiple 2D cameras, capable of inspecting and sorting products of several lengths, widths and thicknesses. - Mining laboratory sample preparation and sorting: a PC-based system for a multi-station container storage and retrieval system, and for the tracking and recording of sample preparation data across 40+ machines. - Surface measurement and inspection of large steel plates with varying lengths, widths and thicknesses: used an array of high-resolution laser measurement sensors to create plate surface maps and detect deviations outside of customer product requirements - Successful trials for the detection of rips/damage to high-speed underground mining conveyor belts, using a 3D laser line-profiling camera. Electrical Engineering Intern

In 2015 and 2016 I undertook a 12-week engineering internship at the Brooklyn Plant of JBS Australia Pty Limited. This internship provided me with valuable professional electrical engineering experience in a fast-paced, hands-on industrial production environment. Some of my roles and projects during my time at JBS Brooklyn included: - Commissioning of fault-detection software for a key piece of production equipment, and development of documentation for the software as a reference for engineers, electricians, maintenance staff and operators - Installation of sensory components to increase the efficiency of a sequential conveyor system, including design changes to the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) code surrounding the system - A support member for the electrical maintenance team, assisting with corrective and preventative maintenance - Assistance with breakdowns of electrical equipment and instrumentation including HMI's, Variable Speed Drives, PLC's and SCADA interfaces Show less
