Working within Police Custody gave me the best experience I could have asked for in relation to communication with others and teamwork in a work place. I have always had in interest in Policing and to see behind the scenes of Hampshire Police was an important experience. Communicating with Detained people in Custody, no matter what difficulties they posed, proved to be my strongest quality in this role. As an assistant manager, I took on manager responsibilities when the manager was not available. I had to manage a group of two to three colleagues, also ensuring that I communicate well with them. This job also put emphasis on the customers experiences making sure that the customers were always put first and would walk away happy and wanting to come back. This job helped me build on my communication with customers as I had more time to build rapports with customers over the bar, it also gave me a great insight into events planning and management. Managing different events also helped me to understand customer satisfaction. Working individually a lot of the time in this role presented me with securing the building up on closing hours and cashing up the till, which at the time was a valuable experience for me. As my first full time job, this taught me how to communicate with customers well and how to work as a team of colleagues to achieve a goal. From working on the tills, to working on the shop floor and to working in the warehouse, I attained many different valuable retail experiences from this job.
