    • Legal Assistant - MLAT Specialist
      • Jul 2010 - Sep 2013

I provided comprehensive legal support to several Assistant United States Attorneys in the Terrorism and Violent Crimes and General Crimes units. In this role I was a key member of the prosecution team for fifteen felony trials at District Court in the Western District of Washington, and handled cases from investigation to trial and through sentencing and appeals. In addition to my support of specific attorneys, I was the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) Specialist for the entire District, responsible for processing all incoming treaty requests from foreign countries. This involved drafting pleadings such as Commissioner's subpoenas and search warrants according to each country's specific treaty language and facilitating communication between our attorneys and the Office of International Affairs.I was also a member of a 15 person national working group which has provided guidance for the agency-wide transition from Word Perfect to Microsoft Word and HotDocs 10. We developed the framework, best practices, and curriculum presented to every employee nationwide through an external vendor. In our District I delivered training to all employees in classroom, small group, and individual settings and developed a library of standardized and automated documents used extensively throughout the office in the Criminal, Civil, and Appellate divisions.

    • Community Liaison, Rep. Jay Inslee (WA-01)

My position was based out of the district office. I was the local staff member responsible for issues including the environment, military and veteran affairs, emergency management, human services, education, and others.I developed and organized events such as Congressman Inslee's Scoop on Cool Careers, annual Grants and Appropriations Workshops, Town Hall events, and varied meetings for community groups. To ensure the DC staff was aware of constituents' concerns I regularly communicated with legislative policy colleagues, assisted in briefings for upcoming hearings, researched potential legislation, and solicited feedback from the local community. I was also responsible for staffing the Congressman while he was in the District, which involved creating briefing materials for events and issues for which I was responsible.During my tenure Congressman Inslee supported and passed or laid the groundwork for successful legislation related to tsunami warning and education, prescription drug take-back programs, and national historic and scenic trails.
