During this co-op term, I drafted and designed HVAC and plumbing systems for healthcare facilities in Cincinnati, OH, and the surrounding area. I worked both independently and on a team of 15 engineers to complete multiple projects. Here, I developed an understanding of the code requirements and layouts pertaining to sanitary/vent piping, domestic water piping and medical gas piping. During this co-op term, I learned to draft HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems in AutoCAD and Revit. I learned and applied essential calculations such as duct and pipe sizing, and I used company spreadsheet software to determine cooling load calculations. In addition, I sized and drafted large HVAC systems for numerous multi-story buildings in the Dayton area.
