      • Sep 2010 - Nov 2010

Consular Intern at the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona, Spain. I performed the duties of an employee in the Consular Section at the U.S. Consulate General in Barcelona, Spain. I assisted with U.S. citizen’s services and helped Americans in distress abroad. These duties included direct customer interaction and making emergency replacement passports (the final step for this, prior to printing the emergency passport, was recommending cases to the consular officer for approval/denial), as well as processing the paperwork needed to order a U.S. passport renewal. In addition to this, I was responsible for certifying the birth of new American citizens abroad and assisting family members when an American dies overseas. Each of these tasks involved intake, data entry, and QA of the appropriate paperwork, skillfully utilizing ACS software. Outside of the Consulate General I, along with a Senior Consular Employee, visited prisons where US citizens were incarcerated.
