At Delta Steam Systems I was responsible for the technical aspects of a rapidly growing business in the Industrial sector. Our key strategic focus was the development of a global steam trap business based on a proven Venturi technology steam trap. Responsibilities included the technical design and documentation of Delta product as well as the selection and sizing of the product for various applications. I was responsible for the manufacturing, QC and overall production and design of our steam traps. The Delta Venturi trap requires accurate and appropriate trap selection based on the relevant process requirements in order to accurately meet all load conditions. In order to ensure optimum operation it necessitates an in-depth understanding of the process and operational parameters of the system where the trap will be used. Experience in the process and utility design environment facilitates a broad understanding of many industrial processes, this is complimented by initial experience in the industrial maintenance sector. Together these skills allow a holistic understanding of client, process and maintenance needs, all of which are perfectly satisfied with by appropriately applying the Delta Venturi technology in the steam trapping industry. As technical Director serving on the WSP Industrial executive committee or board I was responsible for the technical astuteness of various aspects of the business and projects that we consult on. I was involved in and lead many large scale multi-disciplinary projects from concept to completion, taking care of the technical as well as commercial aspects of these projects as well as the internal project co-ordination of the design phase. This involved a great deal of interaction between the various WSP divisions and overseeing the creation of a coordinated design package for the client. Client interaction / management and key client care formed a large part of my typical day.I was also involved in the day to day running of the Cape Town Industrial office including invoicing, scheduling, debtor management and dealing with HR matters arising (counselling sessions, interviews, appointments, disciplinary hearings and dismissals). • Jan 2003 - Dec 2005

This was my first permanent job after finishing my B. Eng (Mechanical) degree at Stellenbosch University. During this period I was required to assist the Chief Engineer with routine maintenance and project related tasks, as well as individually completing various design, maintenance and improvement projects. Under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, we successfully designed, installed and commissioned a R42 million state of the art Nonwoven production line in Cape Town, on schedule (over 18 months) and under budget.
