In my most recent role I managed teams of up to 5 engineers in AS/RS system projects for clients across the US, Canada and Australia including Goodyear, Canadian Tire, The Beer Store and numerous food and beverage manufacturers. I designed and presented solutions that improved throughput through software or robotics enhancements and retrofits, and coordinated teams to implement upgrades and troubleshoot issues. In this role I led the consolidation of production between two plants for a custom cabinet manufacturer, moving production from a 30,000 sq. ft. facility into a 100,000 sq. ft. facility to reduce costs and achieve ROI within 18 months. I developed a new layout and workflow that accommodated 180 staff in the consolidated plant and allowed the company to significantly improve throughput and health and safety. I also managed a project to select and install two automated sanding lines, which resulted in a 30% productivity increase while improving product quality and drastically reducing defects. For this project I conducted root cause analysis and continuous evaluations of production processes to optimize quality, as well as managing budgets and timelines, creating RFQs, negotiating contractor quotes, and awarding contracts. I commissioned a robotic weld cell for short runs of standard parts for a custom manufacturer of material handling equipment, which reduced costs by eliminating manual welding. I also established an additive manufacturing program for the 3D-printed manufacture of jig and fixtures and specialized food-grade plastic parts, which reduced manufacturing costs. These projects involved defining customer needs, designing solutions and managing the installation of custom material handling systems. Show less

In this role I led productivity projects for small to medium sized companies, including (1) the reworking of a local cleaning supply company’s production space to increase production efficiency 20% by introducing one-piece flow methodology, (2) reducing double handling of product, and (3) rolling out a Kanban system to better manage raw product inventory. I worked alongside the project engineer on a new product launch to supply Volkswagen with exterior body panels for a tier one automotive parts supplier. This involved participating in APQP and PPAP meetings and leading quality discussions, as well as managing and scheduling special and trial builds of sub-assemblies and shipping to the customer within a tight deadline.
