I perform a wide range of unsupervised actions at the largest library in Wisconsin. Daily my tasks include dropping a line in with the manager of the Memorial Library stacks to see if there are any pressing concerns. If not, I have a group of activities that need to be completed daily. They include: gathering all the returned books, processing them through an online web client, and returning them to one of eight floors. Madison acts as the hub through which books enter and leave the over 40 library UW-Madison system. I'm the man at Memorial that processes and ships all on-campus books that don't belong to Memoria andl need to be sent out to other UW-System libraries. Conversely, I also process all incoming Madison books that had previously been lent out to off-campus libraries or are requested from these libraries for on-campus libraries. When completed with this, I either seek out books in the stacks that have been requested by patrons (we handle thousands of requests per year so this can always be done), walk nearly two miles searching in every nook and cranny for forgotten about books, sort books that have been sent to floors and need to be arranged so they can be put away into the stacks, tidy up sorting rooms by collecting all the bins we use to send books to their floors (see my first duty), or physically put books away. Librarians don't merely sit at the front desk and tell people when their books are due!

Having successfully completed a two-week immersion training program, I was awarded a 6 month internship at the Berlitz Center located in Santa Barbara, Bogotá. We are given our schedules nightly and have to prepare lessons for the following day. Berlitz believes in teacher rotation, so we teach different levels to different students daily. This internship has forced me to create personalized pedagogical goals on my feet with minimal preparation time. Students' levels of English vary widely and each lesson must be difficult enough to push the students but also within their level of comprehension.
