As Head of Generics it is my responsibility to maintain, develop and expand Waymade’s “Sovereign” own label range of products. Before I joined Waymade, this portfolio consisted of a limited number of products, but since then this has doubled in size and over the next 2 - 3 years will triple. The product range is formed of a mixture of high volume well established generics through to more refined generics and culminating with niche products. This wide range allows for flexibility, and to capitalise on the volatility of the UK market, but backed up by the more stable and secure niche lines. I coordinate with a wide variety of suppliers, manufactures and wholesalers throughout the globe which also helps with risk assessment. We have a world wide distribution network, which is steadily growing each year and this serves perfectly for the export of many of our lines. Even though we have a sales force, I regularly visit many of our customers, as I believe it is important to maintain the very good relationships I have with many of their business development and buying staff. We have our own lab on site which we use, for not only development work but EU release testing and stability work. Waymade is a proactive and dedicated company, they invest reasonably which is refreshing and something I admire from the owners. Show less

    • Senior Generic Buyer
      • Feb 2000 - Sep 2012

Duties ranged from managing stock of some 1200 generic lines, through two large centralised depots with a 2 month stock holding policy. To instigating and finalising exclusivity contracts. Such contracts were based with UK arms of major international suppliers and manufactures. Conducted market research into new and existing products to determine the viability of listing such products. Searching and finding new suppliers. Monthly and by-monthly supplier meetings to discuss pricing, availability and Kent’s market position. Aimed and achieved to strengthen Kent’s position within the market, through detailed negotiations and agreements. Analysing Kent’s portfolio of licenses and assessing potential new molecules. End to end product development was a recent addition to my duties, it was an exciting area and developed well. Kent have a manufacturing plant in Ireland, which sells to other European and non-European countries, and to this end holds 75% of the UK market on antibiotics, supplying other major manufactures in their own liveries. Conducting regular meetings with the M.D to discuss new ideas and offer proposals. Show less

    • Engineering Buyer
      • Jun 1989 - Jan 2000

M.J.Allen was my first position after leaving college, I quickly learnt the skills necessary to achieve the results expected from a large engineering firm, and these were rewarded after just two years when I was given my own buying team. M.J.Allen consisted of four separate companies on one site, each with their own very specialized products. It was necessary to learn and become a master of each. Be it fixings, dyes and taps for the CNC machine shop, or precise chemical specifications of aluminum and iron for the foundries. This was my first experience with dealing with Companies outside of the UK as it was necessary to buy in the raw iron or aluminum from countries such as Russia and Brazil. Hand and hand with this came export and import documentation which again I was solely responsible in administrating. M.J.Allen was an excellent training ground, which gave me the foundation to build my buying, negotiation and research skills on. Show less
