I worked to maintain and improve a dimensional metrology software package called VMS written in a combination of C++ and C. This software is meant to be run on optical measurement machines and involved things such as integrated motion control, handling of cameras, optics, lasers, and image processing to gather, analyze, and report data quickly and accurately. The bulk of what I work on is image processing and manipulation, which is mostly written in C++. The software mostly centered around edge detection techniques on images, but also had the capabilities to do mathematical morphology and create a 3d topographical image from acquired images to gather data that the user needs for analysis. Managed the development of a CAD based dimensional metrology software package called Elements. This required working closely as possible with a team of 4 software engineers based in India to effectively communicate requirements and time frames.

    • Software Tester/Applications Engineer
      • Feb 2011 - May 2012

Worked to improve the robustness of multiple dimensional metrology software packages by creating and improving test suites for both system testing and unit testing. This required working closely with software developers and customers to understand the tradeoffs and expectations for the software.I also worked as an applications engineer to help create custom solutions to fit the metrology needs of the customer as well as train and support the customer in the operation of the software. This often required working at customer sites both domestically and internationally (mostly in Southeast Asia). Show less
