Office Intern
-
Feb 2011 - Jun 2011
• As this office's very first intern, played a key role in defining the position. As an example, the first assignment was creating a database containing the contact information of family doctor, dentist, and chiropractor offices in the 68th district for involvement in healthcare issues. The initial list contained many redundant and outdated entries. These invalid entries were tracked down and using online resources, the total number of contacts previously identified were doubled. • Sole intern managing the public email account using Outlook. The Assemblyman received as many as 300 emails per day. The processing of these emails from the initial backlog of thousands was taken from days to hours and eventually to less than an hour. • The primary intern using LCMS, a tool used by legislators to track cases and manage constituent contact information. Through continual use of LCMS and frequent consultations with the Assembly's technical support in Sacramento, became the in-office expert on the system. • By own initiative, created and tested training manuals and PowerPoint walkthroughs to guide current and future interns through tasks which few in the office were able to teach.
