Year one was spent at a communal training organization (Angus Training Group). Manual turning, milling and use of hand tools as well as inspection techniques were absorbed. One day a week was spent in Angus College, learning various aspects of engineering. On the job training at the Weatherford facility during years 2 and 3 included hands on experience in Design Office and Quality Assurance with time spent building and testing tooling with qualified Fitters. In a structured training program I was able to gain first hand experience of Mori Seki machine centres and utilise programming I had newly learned. This progressed to working on a shift pattern being responsible for the production and quality of my own work. • Confidently completed all aspects of apprenticeship, college and onsite tasks put to me • Extended time in inspection department including aspects of accurate and efficient measuring techniques including CMM machine due to great proficiency • Trained in aspects of the stores and supply department • Drawing/CAD office implementing various changes required to shop floor projects • During apprenticeship was deemed confident and proficient enough to operate a CNC lathes with minimal supervision and also entered into the 3-shift system • All aspects of setting and operating of FANUC and Mazak control systems as well as manual lathes and mills • Trained in the on-site fitting and pressure testing area Show less
