Bio
Sheila Woodhouse
Andrew was the driving force behind the Eco-Quartier Urban landscaping project of greening Shaughnessy Village. His commitment and creativity has had incredible impact in improving our environment. He also had great sensitivity with working with our vulnerable residents who struggle with serious mental health issues.

I met Andrew via our local neighborhood committee about six years ago. As a landscape architecture student, he was keen to put into practice some of the concepts he was learning in class. Even then, he was very good at explaining some of the more abstract concepts regarding how people relate to their environment and their use of space. He gave countless hours towards projects designed to turn abandoned and neglected brown fields into inviting gathering spaces. Eventually Andrew left to work in Japan, but we kept in touch. I was delighted when, upon his return to Montreal, he told me that he was eager to make a contribution towards our current projects, including the design of our first Green Lane. His involvement has exceeded my expectations by far: He's taken on a great deal of responsibility and work; his commitment to the project and his sincere desire to include local residents in the design process is very much appreciated. He's an unassuming, unpretentious person with a great capacity for critical thinking and thus it's a pleasure to work with him. I'm very impressed by his ability to convey ideas and abstract concepts into a tangible context; his prose is especially engaging and well written. A great deal of what I currently know about our urban environment can be traced back to my work with Andrew Harvey. Lucky for us that he's back in Montreal, and as always, that he's so generous in sharing his knowledge and talents to the benefit of our community.
