As a Manager I am responsible for a small team whilst also developing and implementing the course curriculum, vocational Level 2 qualifications. Key part of my role is to manage a programme for 200 learners from a variety of schools and alternate provision consisting of 50% academic and 50% physical training with the inclusion of essential skills to challenge all abilities.The ethos of the company is to engage and motivate individuals which is done through a mixture of energising activities which assist in developing social skills. One of my responsibilities is to liaise with senior staff in schools, local councils, Welsh Assembly and Pupil Referral Units.Part of my role also includes interviewing potential learners and assessing the correct provision based on their needs and personal goals.Another one of my duties is to open initial start paper work which will set positive goals for each student and ensure that their details are entered correctly on to all of our corresponding computer systems. These systems are also updated regularly and it is my role to oversee that they are updated with the submission of work, welfare issues or progressions.I monitor and implement in house training for instructors focusing on behavioural management, marking, assessment for learning and learning strategies. This course entailed working in Secondary Education training and delivering Design and Technology to Key Stages 3,4 and 5. Key roles were lesson planning, marking, completing first 60 credits of Masters qualification. I gained experience in social and behaviour management of learners with all abilities setting achievable targets. I also created differentiated lessons and set clear achievable objectives for a variety of learning abilities. I completed two placements in very different schools, one very high achieving Grade 1 school in Newport and another Band 5 school in Ebbw Vale. I was able to adapt my teaching to suit all students from varied backgrounds and also learnt to work positively with those who had social/emotional/behavioural issues and to push and challenge very capable students. Throughout my teaching placements I taught Resistant Materials, Graphic Design, Textiles, Food technology, Product Design, Electronics and BTEC Construction. Show less
