Biology Research Analyst, Tutor. Evaluated the evolution and speciation in a tropical frog, Leptodactylus ocellatus. Genetic material from the 12S and 16S genes were isolated, purified, and sequenced. The data collected was then used to determine if this frog species had evolved into two separate species. Analyzed the species diversity in four separate ecological zones – deciduous forest, conifer forest, ecotone, and field. Analyses included current as well as historical geographical mapping of the area to determine perceived “destruction”/replacement of ecotone and field areas by pine and later by deciduous forest.
